About Me

I have always written ever since I was old enough to hold a pencil. I had a small tin box where I kept my stories. Somehow I was sidetracked and spent a big chunk of my career teaching others how to compose a grammatical and properly punctuated sentence, and pass exams.  Dreams about apostrophes gave me a jolt and made me decide it was time to diversify and fulfil my ambitions.

I was commissioned by Need2Know to write two books: Secondary School and Leaving Home, both published in 2010.  Spurred on by this success I have written on a wide range of topics and my fingers now rarely leave the keyboard. When I am not writing features, I’m working on my novel.

I am happy to accept commissions; there is nothing I like more than talking to people about their experiences and expertise, then creating a lively and thought-provoking feature.  My previous experience gives me a natural affinity with education and psychology, but I don’t like to limit myself.

I also offer copywriting and editing. If your business needs a revamped website or a brochure, or you want someone to check the accuracy of something online or in print, then I’m your woman.

I never miss a deadline and the apostrophes will be in the right place.

Born and bred up north - not quite Geordie-land, but near enough - I have lived in Hertfordshire for many years.  My son and daughter, who both recently graduated, have almost left home.  Away from the keyboard you will find me in muddy boots walking the hills, popping into art exhibitions in London, and glued to Radio 4.
